Chertoff Continues the BIG Lie

Chertoff Continues the BIG Lie

The lie: “the levees were never expected to break.” First uttered by Bush is now being
defended
by the head of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff.

“That
'perfect storm' of a combination of catastrophes exceeded the foresight
of the planners, and maybe anybody's foresight,” Chertoff said. He
called the disaster “breathtaking in its surprise.”

Incompetence
is bad enough, but to compound it with a lie is criminal. We need to
face the fact that we spent four years and nearly $10 billion on
Homeland security improvements that will not mitigate the impact of any
future attack. The money has been squandered and critical time has been
lost.

Our government has become not only an embarrassment but a liability in any future crisis.  [John Robb's Weblog]
