London: Stock Market Shut Down Averted

Guardian
. Details of the central bank emergency meeting that decided in
real-time not to shut down the UK's financial system. The UK's status
as a global financial hub (and many, many of its jobs) is based on its
ability to maintain real-time communications/operations in the Canary
Wharf area during market hours. If disruption, aimed at that area were
to occur on a regular basis, this status would be in jeopardy.   [John Robb's Weblog]
