BBC.  Shuttle slated for late 2004 launch.  I wish we spent even a fraction of the money we spent on Iraq to get a new low-cost heavy launch vehicle.  This was the reason I wanted to see the “Star Wars” program get funded in the eighties.  The byproduct of the program would have been a new fleet of heavy lift vehicles, an orbital transfer vehicle, several new manned space stations, and much more.  Also, even if it wasn't flawless, it would have been nice to have a anti-ballistic missile system in place today (in case a rogue missile silo operator in Russia or N. Korea decided to go for it). [John Robb's Weblog]
