Intersil Could Turbocharge Mixed Mode b/g

Intersil Could Turbocharge Mixed Mode b/g. Intersil says it could make 802.11g work faster in environments with 802.11b and g operating: It's a clever technical fix but requires integration into the 802.11e quality of service (QoS) work in progress. It basically holds the line open longer for 802.11g packets, allowing more of that faster data to get through before the slower b packets edge in. Quality of service is a synonym for somebody else's service quality suffers, but in a closed network in which you're making the service choices, QoS could potentially provide an advantage….
