Active Marketing
OK, I'm taking notes from these guys. Why? Cause I have just downloaded Active Words, an app I didn't know I needed until a few minutes ago.
Why? I don't know. I will tell you, but they are getting great PR/Marketing from both their users and inside their company. I'm gonna start doing this too.
It started last week when Burton Bruggeman wrote to me asking me to try out Active Words (he didn't ask me to write about it, he just pointed out that Doc mentioned his product, and asked me to try it out and give him some feedback).
Today, he wrote me again with this link. OK, so I'm trying it out!
Some things I noticed in my experience.
No. 1. I'm a sucker for a well-written email that shows the writer took some time to learn about me (mentioning Doc showed me that he reads my stuff here, cause I love Doc).
No. 2. If you get past my email filters (which he did by hand-writing an email and pitching me directly) then I was committed and wanted to download his product.
No. 3. His Web site was very easy to figure out how to “try it” and get to the download page.
I'm putting into place similar mechanisms so that I can catalyze downloads and discussions about UserLand's products in the same way. [Scobleizer]
