TV Station in a Box

I'm showing off Manila to my previous boss at Winnov.

Winnov is doing for video and audio what UserLand is doing for words. Making the Web a fantastic environment.

What Olivier showed me was a box, with four inputs, that can power an Internet radio station. It spits out four audio streams. Two in Microsoft media format, two in Real format. It's amazing how good a quality a 100kbps stream is now.

Then he switched over to another box. Same thing, but does both audio and video for folks like CNN or ABC. Two video streams, 56k and 100k for both Real and Microsoft formats.

But, that's not the end of it. These boxes are gonna sit in a back room somewhere, right? What happens if you're a Webmaster at CNN and you need to brighten the picture a little? Well, Winnov added a Web server and a browser-based user interface. Now you can adjust everything from anywhere in the world.

They are killing their competition because they integrated the Internet into their box. Interesting.
